The Farm purchased May 2004 The open home was hellish (apparently - we weren't there), wall to wall people. Our friends Jim & Leanne were there and They Wanted It. But they thought there was way too much interest and it would be beyond their means. The Misus was looking for a batch (nee crib, holiday home) on the coast, she saw The Farm in the paper and thought it looked interesting. A few days later she said "Should we check it out?", it turns out tenders closed the following day, so we booked a viewing and the fax machine was rolling as tenders closed. The following day, after being screwed for more money with Lies and Dishonesty (estate agents are the spawn of the devil), The Farm was ours. Less than 2 days go to woa. We weren't in a position to move right away, so we rented it out till Summer. December 10th - booted out The Tennant. Farmer Jones & The Misus, in the house. Major renovations. First weekend - gutted the main living area. Stripped the linings off the walls and ceilings, nothing left but framing. 2 weeks later it was all relined, plastered, painted (well, undercoated), furnished, a full set of new appliances, all ready for a nice family Christmas. Got 2 chooks from Kara for Christmas - rescued from the egg battery. The feral rooster has come home too. Olive the cat thought it was all pretty cool for a couple of days - this is all new & very different for a city cat - till she got her arse kicked one night by a wild cat. Now she's seriously re-evaluating her position in the food chain. Even the chooks give her cause for pause. A few more weeks replumbing, replacing the bathroom and still more painting, and it's looking pretty damn homely. |
